The Legal Aid Agency have recently published guidance which confirms that legal aid court bills will no longer be assessed by the courts and will move across to the Legal Aid Agency (save in relation to matters with inter partes costs orders that require a 6 column bill to be prepared). This will become mandatory in due course, but as an interim measure solicitors will be able to choose whether they have a court bill prepared or an LAA assessed bill.
Please do confirm your preference when sending in files, or our team will be happy to recommend the best course of action for your files, whilst there is a choice.
